The weekend before Valentine’s Day I headed to Vixen Dance Studio to cheer on a great friend who was performing in her first pole dancing showcase. The Avenue of Fashion was on jam (duh it was a Saturday night) Bakers Lounge in one direction and all the restaurants in the other.
After the stress and anxiety of driving around to get a parking spot, I did make it in. It was a nice contrast from the traffic outside. The quiet and secluded atmosphere inside was a much-needed escape. With the marble walls, low lighting, and shiny silver poles, the studio oozed sex appeal. And not to mention the dancers…all of them were amazing! I was in awe of their confidence, skill, all the body positivity, and just women supporting women.
My friend reflected after: “There were no expectations. I didn’t feel the need to be anything other than who I am.” And I love that for her. I’m still convinced that there’s nothing women can’t do. It got me thinking, How are you boldly showing yourself, love, this week? Are you allowing yourself to receive your “flowers”?
